LOCAL CONTEST: DISTRICT OF HAWAII
The U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii will conduct a local contest to select finalists for the circuit-wide competition. The winners in the essay and video competitions at the district court level will go on to compete in the Ninth Circuit contest. Local contest winners in each category will receive prizes of $1,500 for 1st place, $750 for 2nd place, and $500 for 3rd place. Participating students must reside in the state of Hawaii. Teachers who have more than ten students participate or who have students participate from schools that have not submitted entries in the last five years will receive an invitation to a special tour of the King Kamehameha V Judiciary History Center and a $100 prize.
